Internal
Corrosion
is caused by (sea) water penetrating inside the steel piles.
Internal corrosion of the steel piles is probably for most jetty
installations an overlooked cause of corrosion. |

Internal corrosion can be treated by taking out samples of the water
from inside every pile and perform an analyses of the contains as
the oxygen levels and other substances. |

In the picture above a sample is taking out of a steel pile. The correct determent corrosion Inhibitor liquid contents is later on brought back in the same way inside the piles. |

It is recommendable to run new sample tests every 3 years. The results will determine if additional inhibitors have to be added. |
