Corrosion Prevention on Jetties

PT. Imbema Pacific Indonesia, has over 25 year experience in advising and implementing anti-corrosion measurements for jetty piles.

As general indication, without any protection, the steel wallthickness of an unprotected jetty pile in Indonesia will on average reduce 0.02-0.20 mm/year on the sea bottom, 0.05-0.07 mm/year on the top of the pile, but even 1.5-1.75 mm/year in the splash zone. (examples of unprotected jetty piles)

Note: This average reduction of the steel wallthickness is an accumulation of corrosion from the outside as well as from the inside of the steel piles.

Survey on existing Jetties

For existing jetty piles we can conduct a survey – at cost - by our experienced engineers to do a comprehensive analysis of the installation at your site and advise you what needs to be done to extend the lifetime of the jetty piles in case the current protection is not adequate. Preventive Maintenance

Corrosion prevention systems on a Jetty should be inspected on regular basis; e.g.  SeaShield Jetty Systems should be inspected every six months on mechanical damage by debris or third parties.
